Piza e Vino

Sounds good doesn't it?
A restaurant with a name like that deserves a visit...

We went to Piza e Vino in Melrose Arch on Friday evening with G & Lia. Seeing that they got engaged a while ago...there was a lot of wedding talk, a lot of pizza and of course some red wine.

The complimentary entrées was a welcome surprise on a cold winter evening surprise - as small cup of soup (tasted like a spicy butternut soup) and a little bread basket.

Who says you can only cheers with a drink?

The menu is full of interesting choices so it's a good thing that you can order half-half of any 2 pizzas on the menu.
Between us we ordered about six different type of pizzas - the parma ham, pear and gorgonzola being a great hit.

The half/half idea is really clever.
The pizzas were delicious, each one with its own special ingredient. I love it when you can taste that some thought went into creating a pizza, when the different (sometimes extreme) combinations just come together in your mouth!

This is definitely not just another pizza joint where all the pizzas have the same sauce which came out of some big 20l drum. I was also very impressed with the waiter's knowledge of the weirder pizza toppings like alioli...

One half - chicken, red peppers, jalapeño and alioli
The other half - Roasted lamb with some other goodies.

Main ingredients on this one: chicken breast strips, avo, coriander

After indulging in our pizza feast it was time to bring out the dices!

Some know it as yahtzee, others grew up with knuffel but it's pretty much the same game. We play it wherever we go - in a restaurant or coffee shop or bar or pretty much anywhere else. The four of us even have a tournament going at the moment.
If you like games, this is one you should learn. The fact that you only need 5 dices and a piece of paper means my wife can keep it in her handbag and whenever we feel like it we have a game at hand.

So if you're a fan of interesting pizzas give Piza e Vino a try. Their prices were reasonable, the service was good and the restaurant setting is nice and casual.
